Manchester United midfielder Ethan Hamilton has left the club for the lower leagues on a temporary move.

The 20-year-old has joined English League One outfit Southend United on loan for the new season.

He will spend the 2019/20 season at Southend United.

Ethan Hamilton has previously spent a successful loan spell at another English League One side Rochdale.

His loan transfer was announced via a statement from the official website of Manchester United on Friday.

Ethan Hamilton will definitely be missing for Manchester United when they face Wolverhampton Wanderers in their second league game of the season on Monday Night.

Manchester United will travel to the Molineux to face Wolves with the hope of ending a run of three games without a win against the Midlands club.

The Red Devils lost two and drew one from their three meetings with Wolves last season including two losses from the two games played at the Molineux.

Manchester United played out a 1-1 draw at home to Wolves in their first meeting last season.

Wolves won their second meeting 2-1 in the quarterfinals of the FA Cup at the Molineux before the Midlands club secured another win at home (2-1) in the second league meeting of last season.
