Young and enterprising Liverpool defender Ki-Jana Hoever has signed a new contract at the club.

The news of his contract extension was revealed via the official Twitter handle of Liverpool earlier on Wednesday.

Ki-Jana Hoever has signed a long-term contract at Liverpool thus securing his future at the club.

The young defender made his debut for Liverpool in the last campaign after he was thrown into the deep end by Reds manager Jurgen Klopp.

He was handed his Liverpool debut against fellow Premier League outfit Wolverhampton Wanderers in their FA Cup third round clash.

Hoever impressed a great deal but it was not enough for Liverpool who were eliminated from the competition via a 2-1 defeat to hosts Wolves.

The 17-year-old signed for Liverpool last summer on the back of his exit from Dutch Eredivisi giants Ajax Amsterdam.

Ki-Jana Hoever spent four years at Ajax Amsterdam from 2014 to 2018.

He has been involved with Liverpool heavily during the preseason.

Liverpool have made just two signings this summer ahead of the new season billed to start next week Friday.

The Reds signed Dutch defender Sepp Van Der Berg from top flight side PEC Zwolle before adding young midfielder Harvey Elliott from English Championship side Fulham.
