Lille winger Nicolas Pepe is in London today for his medicals at Arsenal ahead of his record-breaking transfer to the Premier League.

This is according to the publication from the stables of popular French news outlet Le10 Sport.

Arsenal had earlier agreed a £72m transfer for the Ivorian international player at the weekend and he has been pencilled in for a medical this week.

The Gunners won the right to sign Pepe ahead of several European clubs.

Italian Serie A giants Napoli, Liverpool, Inter Milan and Paris Saint Germain (PSG) were also interested in a move for the 24-year-old attacker.

He has spent two years at Lille since he joined the former French champions from fellow top flight side Angers.

Nicolas Pepe came into prominence in the last campaign as a result of his impressive performances for Lille.

He was the key player for Lille as the former French champions finished the season as best team in the league apart from league champions PSG.

Nicolas Pepe scored 22 goals in the league in addition to 11 assists in 38 French Ligue 1 games last season.

Arsenal will pay a club-record fee of €80m (£72m) for him thus making him the most expensive African player.
