Italian Serie A giants AS Roma have confirmed their interest in Tottenham Hotspur defender Toby Alderweireld.
According to the club’s sporting director Gianluca Petrachi via Italian media outlet Football Italia, Roma want to sign Toby Alderweireld this summer.
He also said that former Tottenham Hotspur director Franco Baldini could use his influence to sign the Belgian international defender.
Toby Alderweireld has a release clause of £25m in his current contract with the North London giants.
AS Roma are in need of a new centre back ahead of the 2019/20 season billed for next season after the sale of Kostas Manolas earlier this summer.

Greek international Manolas joined fellow Italian Serie A club Napoli in a swap deal which saw midfielder Amadou Diawara move in the other direction.
Kostas Manolas was a key player for AS Roma for five years until the summer.
The Greek centre back had joined Roma from Olympiacos in 2014.
Toby Alderweireld could be the replacement for him at Roma.
Apart from a £25m release clause that becomes ineffective for the final two weeks of this transfer window, Toby Alderweireld has one year left on his contract with Spurs.
He made 50 appearances for Tottenham Hotspur during the last campaign.
