Newly appointed Chelsea manager Frank Lampard is reportedly eager to add former teammate Ashley Cole to his technical crew at Stamford Bridge.

This is according to the publication from The Sun which revealed that Frank Lampard could welcome Ashley Cole to his backroom staff on the back of their short time together at Derby County.

Frank Lampard brought Ashley Cole back to England while he was the Derby County manager.

Ashley Cole signed a six-month contract at Derby County during the winter transfer window until this summer.

The 38-year-old joined Derby County some weeks after his contract with Major League Soccer (MLS) club LA Galaxy expired.

He went on to score one goal and also provide two assists for the Rams in 12 games.

Ashley Cole and Frank Lampard were teammates at both national team (Three Lions of England) and club (Chelsea) level.

Chelsea have witnessed a lot of changes this summer.

Before the appointment of Frank Lampard as the Chelsea manager, ex-Blues teammate Petr Cech was appointed the sporting director.

Former Chelsea players have been assuming important roles at the club since the exit of Maurizio Sarri this summer.

Sarri left Chelsea to take up the Juventus job on a three-year contract.
