Former Manchester United player David May has urged new Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to do everything within his power to sign a player from European champions Real Madrid.
David May is a former teammate of Solskjaer as they played together under legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson.
According to him, his former Manchester United teammate should sign Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane.
He made this known in an interview with Betstars via the Daily Express.
The ex-Red Devils player went on to cite the Virgil Van Dijk example at Liverpool and how the signing of the Dutch international centre back transformed the defensive strength of Liverpool within a short space of time.
David May called on to spend as much as possible on the transfer Varane even if it would take around £90m to £100m to prise the French defender away from Real Madrid.
He had earlier revealed that the £60m to £70m transfer fee quoted for Leicester City defender Harry Maguire when Manchester United tried to sign him in the summer is outrageous.
Manchester United have made the signing of a new centre back their top transfer target ahead of the upcoming winter transfer window scheduled to begin at the start of next month.
