East London giants West Ham United remain in the hunt for Celta Vigo striker Maxi Gomez according to the latest reports coming out of the British media.

The Hammers are one of the clubs keen to sign Maxi Lopez this summer.

The Uruguayan international has previously been linked with a move to other clubs like Barcelona and Champions League holders Liverpool.

The Reds were mentioned as a potential destination for the Celta Vigo striker Maxi Gomez at the start of this summer’s transfer window.

According to Sky Sports, West Ham United have met the release clause of Maxi Gomez at Celta Vigo.

It was revealed that the Hammers are willing to pay the €50m (£44.8m) release clause in his release clause at his Spanish La Liga club.

West Ham United want to sign a new striker this summer and Maxi Gomez has been identified as their top transfer target to fill that need in their squad.

First choice striker Marko Arnautovic is expected to leave West Ham United for China in the coming days and Maxi Gomez could be his direct replacement if the Hammers can convince the player to join them ahead of Spanish La Liga club Valencia who are also interested in him.
