Italian Serie A giants AS Roma are reportedly in talks to sign former Chelsea striker Gonzalo Higuain this summer.

According to the publication from Italian transfer news portal Calciomercato, Gonzalo Higuain could join AS Roma in a swap deal with young midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo moving to his parent club Juventus.

Gonzalo Higuain has been surplus to requirements at Italian Serie A champions Juventus since Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo sealed a club-record move to the club from Real Madrid.

The Italians paid €100m to secure the signing of Ronaldo from Spanish giants Real Madrid last summer.

The former Manchester United and Sporting Lisbon attacked signed a four-year deal at Juventus until the end of the 2021/22 season.

As a result of the arrival of Ronaldo, Higuain was sent on loan to rivals AC Milan for the season before the Argentine player ended the season-long loan deal at the halfway stage to join Premier League giants Chelsea.

He didn’t record much success at both AC Milan and Chelsea whom he scored five goals for as the Blues ended the season with the Europa League title.

He had earlier netted eight times for AC Milan during the first half of the season before netting five times for West London giants Chelsea during the second half of the season.
