AS Roma midfielder Steven N’Zonzi has failed to return to the Italian Serie A club to further fuel transfer rumours linking him with a move away from the club.

According to the publication from Corriere Dello Sport, the French midfielder missed preseason testing at AS Roma as he was conspicuously absent on Tuesday.

Steven N’Zonzi was expected to report back for preseason but the French World Cup winner failed to show up thereby fuelling rumours that the long-term Arsenal target is trying to engineer a move to French Ligue 1 giants Lyon.

It’s believed that the 30-year-old wants to leave the Italian capital club this summer after just one season with the Romans.

Steven N’Zonzi was seriously linked with the Gunners last summer before the midfielder signed for AS Roma from Spanish La Liga club Sevilla.

Recent reports claimed that Roma will be ready to do a deal for N’Zonzi for €30m though a bid of around €25m might be enough to propel the Italians to a sale.

Lyon could offer a loan deal for Steven N’Zonzi with the option to buy out rightly especially with star midfielder Tanguy Ndombele on his way out of Lyon.

N’Zonzi could be direct replacement for Tanguy Ndombele who will leave for Spurs in a club-record deal this summer.
