Merseyside giants Everton have announced the permanent signing of midfielder Andre Gomes from Spanish champions Barcelona.
The permanent transfer was confirmed on Tuesday evening.
Andre Gomes has penned a long-term contract at Everton to complete a deal reported to be around €25m.
He spent last season on loan at Everton from Barcelona and the Toffees have decided to make the move permanent after the Portuguese international midfielder impressed a great deal.
Andre Gomes formed a potent midfield partnership with Idrissa ‘Gana’ Gueye in the Everton midfield and he was influential for an Everton side that finished the season strongly.
Everton were the eighth best team at the end of the latest Premier League season.
Premier League clubs like West Ham United and Liverpool were interested in a deal for Andre Gomes after his successful loan spell at Everton but the Toffees have been able to get a move over the line for him.
West Ham United had two separate bids turned down for the player by Barcelona who were holding out for the €25m fee paid by Everton.
The Hammers made bids for €20m and €22m for Andre Gomes who joined Barcelona from Valencia in 2016 before leaving the club for Everton three years later on a permanent deal.
