Chelsea legend Marcel Desailly has put his faith in club owner Roman Abramovich over the decision to appoint Derby County manager Frank Lampard the new manager.

Roman Abramovich has made the decision to appoint ex-Chelsea midfielder Lampard as the managerial replacement for Italian tactician Maurizio Sarri who left the club earlier this month to take the Juventus job.

Former Blues centre back Marcel Desailly talked about Chelsea and the vacant managerial position in a chat with the London Evening Standard.

According to him, Roman Abramovich has always made the right choice on the appointment of managers at Chelsea and he’s trusting him to do the same now.

Derby County manager and Chelsea legend Frank Lampard has been picked as the man to replace Maurizio Sarri as the Chelsea manager though the Blues will still have to negotiate his release from the Rams.

The English Championship club wants £4m for the release of their manager though they are still optimistic that Lampard will finish the job he has started at the club.

Frank Lampard did well last season after leading the club to the Championship playoff final before they were beaten 2-1 by Aston Villa who will play Premier League football as a result of the win over Derby County.
