North London giants Arsenal have reportedly been linked with a move for Brighton and Hove Albion defender Lewis Dunk this summer.

According to the publication from popular media outlet TeamTalk, the Gunners are interested in the Brighton defender as they try to improve their team defensively ahead of the new season billed to start in six weeks time.

It was revealed that Arsenal will have to fend off the interest of fellow Premier League side Leicester City in their quest to sign the 6ft 4in defender.

Leicester City see the Brighton centre back as the ideal replacement for Harry Maguire who’s closing on a world-record deal to Premier League champions Manchester City this summer.

The Citizens are prepared to pay £80m for the England international defender thus making it a record transfer ahead of the current record held by Dutchman Virgil Van Dijk who plays his club football for newly crowned European champions Liverpool.

The Reds splashed the whopping sum of £75m to sign Van Dijk from Southampton and the former Celtic player has lived up to the price tag.

Arsenal and Leicester City will have to pay £30m if they want to sign 27-year-old Brighton defender Lewis Dunk this summer.

The Gunners want to sign a new central defender this summer to improve a poor defensive record from the last campaign.
