Should Frank Lampard pick up the job as Chelsea boss in coming days, the position would be vacant at Derby County and there is a need for a replacement.

Frank Lampard has been tipped to succeed Maurizio Sarri as Chelsea boss after the former Napoli boss went to join Italian Serie A giants Juventus.

Derby County are, therefore, reported to have contacted Liverpool legend and Rangers manager Steven Gerrard for the job but he has turned them down.

The Times report that the Rams see Gerrard as Frank Lampard’s potential successor, as they prepare for their
2019/2020 league campaign but that will not happen in any way.

Frank Lampard guided the Rams to a top six finish in his first season in charge, before they lost out on promotion to the Premier League at the final hurdle after a defeat to Aston Villa in the Play-Off final at Wembley.

He also went ahead to deliver some shocking results in the FA Cup this season to show the glimpse of why he can do.

However, he has been backed by pundits to deliver good result with Chelsea knowing his history with the club and how well he achieved as a Blues player
