North London giants Arsenal have received a transfer blow in their bid to sign young German goalkeeper Markus Schubert this summer with the Gunners poised to lose out to Bundesliga club Schalke 04.
This is according to the specific publication from German media portal Ran which claimed that the young goalkeeper will shun Arsenal to join Schalke 04.
Markus Schubert is a free agent after the expiration of his contract with German Bundesliga 2 side Dynamo Dresden.

Earlier reports had claimed that Arsenal had agreed on a free transfer move for the 21-year-old goalkeeper and that the Gunners are already planning to send him out on loan to a club in the English Championship or a non-English club.
Arsenal are in the market for a new goalkeeper after the retirement of Petr Cech.
The veteran Czech Republic shot stopper had earlier announced his decision to retire this summer.
His last game was the Europa League final which the Gunners lost 4-1 to London rivals Chelsea.
Apart from Markus Schubert, the Gunners have been linked with other goalkeepers like Sampdoria shot stopper Emil Audero and Stoke City goalkeeper Jack Butland in recent weeks.
