Apart from Manchester United, Premier League rivals like Liverpool and Manchester City are also interested in him.
Liverpool had a £61m bid rejected by Benfica towards the end of last year in their quest to sign Joao Felix while Manchester City officials have met with their Benfica counterparts to do a deal for the teen attacker.
Non-English clubs like Paris Saint Germain (PSG), German champions Bayern Munich and Italian Serie A giants Juventus have also been mentioned as potential transfer destination for the 19-year-old.
