North London giants Arsenal will have to look elsewhere for a new midfielder after it was revealed that Aston Villa are closing in on one of their targets.

Charlton Athletic midfielder Joe Aribo has been in very good form for the London club and it has not gone unnoticed with the bigger teams in English football.

He has scored 10 goals in 38 appearances for the English League One outfit this season and his form has propelled Charlton Athletic to the League One playoff final.

Charlton Athletic overcame Doncaster Rovers in the semifinals and will now face Sunderland in the final on Sunday evening to determine who will secure a spot in the English Championship for next season.

Despite his form for Charlton Athletic, Joe Aribo is expected to leave the Addicks on a free transfer this summer.

The 22-year-old joined Charlton Athletic from Staines Town four years ago.

According to The Sun, Aston Villa are closing in on a free transfer move for the young midfielder ahead of other interested clubs.

The Scottish Premiership duo of Rangers and Celtic are also keen on a move for the Charlton Athletic midfielder.

Premier League heavyweights Arsenal and Manchester City have also been credited with an interest in the player.
