No free run for Chelsea as Tottenham speed up approach midfield maestro

It was earlier expected that West London side will have a free run in their bid to sign Croatia international Mateo Kovacic on a permanent bid but that has changed with reports that London rivals Tottenham have already approached his owners Real Madrid.

Mateo Kovacic is currently on loan at the Stamford Bridge after failing to make the team at the Bernabeu and has impressed manager Maurizio Sarri which makes the club plan the idea of having him on a permanent deal.

With Real Madrid looking unsure about having Mateo Kovacic return back to Spain, Tottenham are making efforts to steal the opportunity and they are reported to have made inquiries about the player’s availability.

The North London side had no transfer deal in the last summer because of the financial commitment of the club on the new stadium and they seem to be storming the winter transfer window which reopens in coming weeks to have more additions.

Tottenham see Mateo Kovacic as a good fit for the club and they are hopeful they can convince him into staying at the club knowing that he has lots of competitors at the Stamford Bridge which he might not win at the end of the day.
