Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho is interested in a bargain deal for Real Madrid playmaker James Rodriguez according to the latest transfer rumours emanating from the media in Spain.

According to Spanish TV outlet El Chringuito, ex-Man United and Chelsea manager, Mourinho wants to sign James Rodriguez next month with the Colombian international available for as little as €40m.

Real Madrid don’t have any issue with his potential exit from the club in the January transfer window as the Los Merengues are hoping to offload him.

Due to form and fitness, James Rodriguez is yet to feature for Real Madrid since October 22.

The former FC Porto and AS Monaco player has struggled for playing time at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu since returning to the club from his loan spell at Bayern Munich in the summer.

James Rodriguez had earlier joined German Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich on a two-year loan deal in 2017.

Bayern Munich were said to have paid around £11.5m for his loan for two seasons with the option of making it permanent for £36.5m.

He won the league title in each of his two seasons at Bayern Munich but the Colombian was not rewarded with a permanent transfer to the Allianz Arena in Munich.
