Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed that central striker Anthony Martial will miss the upcoming Premier League game with Southampton this weekend.

Solskjaer confirmed his absence for the Southampton game during his pre-match press conference on Friday.

Manchester United travel to the South Coast to face Southampton in what’s the fourth game of the new Premier League season.

The aim for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his Manchester United players ahead of the Southampton game is to bounce back from the disappointing loss to Crystal Palace last weekend.

Manchester United suffered their first loss of the season courtesy the 2-1 defeat at home to the Eagles.

Jordan Ayew and Patrick Van Aanholt were the goalscorers for Crystal Palace, while Daniel James scored the lone goal for the Red Devils.

The match was characterized by the second half penalty miss by England international Marcus Rashford.

The Manchester United Academy graduate smashed his penalty against the post after Crystal Palace skipper Luka Milivojevic brought down Scott McTominay in the box.

Marcus Rashford is still on penalty duties according to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and the England international will lead the line against Southampton in the absence of the injured Anthony Martial.

French international Martial got injured during the Crystal Palace game.

According to Solskjaer, he will be back for the Leicester City game after the international break.
