EPL legend, John Barnes has stated that Arsenal summer signing Willian is still the same player he used to be at the Stamford Bridge when he was with Chelsea, in reaction to complaints about his performance.
The Brazilian International joined the Gunners in the summer transfer window with a debut that cannot be forgotten after delivering two assists in the season opener against Fulham but that has been the last mouthwatering performance coming from the former Chelsea.
However, John Barnes stated that the Brazilian should not be blamed as he stressed that his slow start is more down to the team he has joined rather than his individual ability.
The Brazilian winger has got plenty of fans even before his move which made his announcement something worth celebrating but they seem to have been left disappointed
The former Liverpool and England winger, in his reaction to concerns raised by the fans said Arsenal’s inconsistencies are to be blamed and not the player.

“Willian’s contract situation has nothing to do with his slow start. As a player, Willian has always had a good attitude, he works hard and gives 100% for the team.
“Willian has come to an inconsistent team, it’s not the player himself that is at fault but the team he is in. If Willian went to a consistent team that was performing well every week, he would be a fantastic player and a great addition to the squad. It is on Arsenal and Mikel Arteta to try and get the most out of him.
“Once Arsenal start to perform so will he (Willian) and the whole club will be in a much better place. Willian was never going to be the main man at Arsenal, he needs to come to a team that is playing well and then he will add to that.”
However, William is not a part of the Brazil’s 23-man squad for their CONMEBOL World Cup qualifiers. He is definitely at London Colney with the rest of the players training.
