English Premier League outfit Chelsea have been issued a big blow in their chase of AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma as he is set sign a new deal with the club.

Donnarumma, who was fast-tracked into net by the Rossoneri at the age of just 16, is arguably one of the best goalkeepers in Serie A to have attracted clubs like Chelsea to indicate interest.

Chelsea and other suitors began to make moves after observing the Italian Serie A giants allowed his contract to run out as it is due to expire in the summer of 2021 with no talks of a new deal yet.

Should AC Milan fail to agree on a new deal with the youngster before January, clubs will be permitted to hold talks for an initial agreement with him but with the latest report, the Serie A giants have woken up from their slumber to keep one of the hottest goalkeepers in Italy.

Chelsea signed a new goalkeeper in the summer transfer window with the recruitment of Edouard Mendy and he has gone straight to replace Kepa Arrizabalaga as the first choice shot stopper. Now Chelsea is set to part ways with their Spanish goalkeeper and will seek a replacement.

Gianluigi Donnarumma is the focus for the Blues team but he is definitely not the player AC Milan should lose now. They have now ready to offer him a contract extension and upgrading to €7M-a-year.

This is bad news for the Chelsea fans but definitely not for AC Milan fans that will not take the exit of the youngster goalkeeper likely.

Meanwhile, Edouard Mendy, who joined the West London outfit from French Ligue 1 outfit Rennes has established himself in Frank Lampard’s team and has been given the credit, alongside Brazilian defender Thiago Silva for stabilizing the team.
