It has been confirmed that West London outfit Chelsea benefited too well from the capture of Thiago Silva in the summer transfer window after leaving the French Ligue 1 outfit as a free agent.

Thiago Silva’s contract with the Ligue 1 outfit ran out and the club was unable to hand him a new deal before he left to the English Premier League.

Since joining Chelsea, Thiago Silva has been very impressive and has helped to stabilize the Blues defence. His experience has helped Frank Lampard’s team to stabilize and avoid unnecessary defeats.

Paris Saint Germain sporting director Leonardo has come out to state that the club made a mistake to have allowed Thiago Silva to leave the club for Chelsea.

And Leonardo accepts PSG might rue not keeping the Brazilian while they had the chance as they now struggle to replace him in the team.

“At one moment, we have to say ‘what are we going to do.’ We spoke clearly with them… It was a moment where we could not give them exactly what they wanted,” Leonardo is quoted as saying by Get Football News.

“It was a financial and generational problem. It was the moment to count on Marquinhos and Kimpembe. The decisions were difficult to take. Aside from that, we could have made a mistake.”

Before the coming of the Brazilian to the West London outfit, Chelsea struggled to play a game without conceding goals but as soon as he joined, alongside Edouard Mendy from Rennes, the story changed with the Blues now recording a streak of clean sheets.

However, Thiago Silva has since settled at Stamford Bridge and he is happy to have helped the club. The latest report reveals that he told manager Frank Lampard that he would be extending his stay at the club by extending his contract.
