Mikel Arteta given reasons to have Mesut Ozil rethink

Mikel Arteta has been told to have a rethink about Arsenal outcast Mesut Ozil in his team so as to help Gabon international forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang score more goals.

The former Real Madrid playmaker has been snubbed from Mikel Arteta’s Europa League and Premier League squad for the season and that hints that he will never play for the club again before his contract expires in the summer of 2021.

Former Man City midfielder Nigel de Jong holds the opinion that the decision by the Spanish boss is a wrong one, hinting that the Gunners team might look solid at defending but they have lacked the creativity that Mesut Ozil can give to the team.

According to the former Netherlands international midfielder, the quality of the World Cup winner will be of help to Gabon international forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and other forwards as they would be able to score more goals for the team.

Nigel de Jong told beIN SPORTS that “If you look at the player Mesut Ozil then I think the creativity he has for the squad is impeccable, still. Of course, he is now at an age. He’s not the young Ozil that we knew four or five years ago.

The former Man City midfielder insists that Mikel Arteta’s decision might end up hurting him except he is able to find a way in getting the likes of Alexandre Lacazette, Willian, and Eddie Nketiah to score goals as well.

Mesut Ozil has a running contract with Arsenal until next summer and has insisted on staying until the end of but with the latest development of is exclusion from the team, he might be forced to leave in the January transfer window except there is a last-minute change in mind by manager Mikel Arteta to have him enlisted in the team when the opportunity comes up in January.
