Chelsea’s recent form in the Premier League has made them tipped as title contenders by former player Joe Cole.

The West London outfit club started the season on a slow note but there is a complete turnaround in the team with the attackers and defenders not doing good, especially after their last 3-0 win against Burnley in the Premier League.

Manager Frank Lampard has hailed the collective effort of the team for this feat, but he has singled out goalkeeper Edouard Mendy for praise as the effort of the summer transfer signing has helped the team with more wins and clean sheets.

The Blues are now closer to where they want to be as they now sit fifth on the table, just four points behind Liverpool who are top on the log.

Joe Cole has expressed confidence that the current players under manager Frank Lampard have all it takes to win the Primer League title at the end of the season.

“It was an exceptional performance and it’s been a steady improvement. Now it looks like Chelsea can make a run of it,” Joe told BT Sport.

“It’s been a long time since Chelsea have looked as comfortable defending. [Edouard] Mendy didn’t have a shot to save.

“It’s good times for the club at the moment and it’s just about consistency. You look at the fixture list and there’s winnable games to come.

“By Christmas time Chelsea could be right up there. It’s game on. I think there are three or four clubs who can go for the title and Chelsea are certainly one of them.”

However, the new faces at Chelsea have been hailed for helping the team with their recent performance. Frank Lampard brought in Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner, Kai Havertz, Ben Chilwell, Edouard Mendy, and Thiago Silva.

Joe Cole was also an interesting player during his playing days at Chelsea, scoring 40 goals in 281 games between 2003 and 2010.
