West London outfit Chelsea had their bid for Italian Serie A outfit Juventus defender Daniele Rugani rejected in the summer, the player’s agent has revealed.

Before securing the signature of Thiago Silva, the Blues team were in the market for a defender as they suffered a number of defensive crisis and conceded a lot of goals.

Daniele Rugani’s agent Davide Torchia who spoke to TMW Radio revealed that several clubs made an attempt to secure the service of the defender but were rejected by the Turin club.

He revealed that the likes of Arsenal, Napoli, Zenit, and Lyon also made an attempt to land Daniele Rugani last summer but they were all rejected despite submitting a bid of about £30 million for his service.

The agent cannot tell if the Turin club made the right decision by not selling Daniele Rugani for a fee as high as £30 million as it is not his to judge, but there are possibilities that his service is still needed at Juventus and no fee would be able to pay for that.

The West London outfit ended up securing the signature of Thiago Silva and his wealth of experience has been helpful in helping them avoid unnecessary defeats again. Chelsea now enjoy the best ever clean sheet run since Frank Lampard’s appointment.

Arsenal are also having a more solid defending after they were reportedly rejected by Juventus for the signature of Daniele Rugani. The North London outfit secured the signature of Gabriel Magalhaes and he has been helpful to the team.

However, Chelsea are now regarded as title contenders as they are very close to the top, sitting 6th on the log with 12 points after their weekend win. Their London rivals, Arsenal also won Man United by 1-0 and are with 12 points but they are 9th on the log.
