English Premier League outfit Liverpool could be having their worst injury crisis in a long time as they hope to defend the title and reclaim the Champions League later in May next year.
The Reds have lost their star player, Virgil Van Dijk to injury, and his major cover Fabinho is also injured alongside Joel Matip which leaves manager Jurgen Klopp with little options in the defence.
Several players have been linked with a move to Anfield as a result of this development as the January transfer window draws nearer for the club to invest in.
Former Liverpool player Steve Nicol has urged the club to consider the signature of their former players, mentioning Dejan Lovren and Mamadou Sakho to help mount the defence as Virgil Van Dijk will not be available for action this season as a result of a hamstring injury.

Let it be on record that Joe Gomez is the only natural centre-back available for manager Jurgen Klopp and that leaves it a more difficult situation in making selections for the weekend game.
The Reds legend when speaking to ESPN stated that either of the former layers can be brought back to the club on a loan term to solve the problem on the ground.
He noted that Mamadou Sakho is not getting a game for Palace which makes it easy to tempt him away as the club is only limited to Rhys Williams and will not want to bank on him alone.
While casting doubt over the possibility of having a fit Joel Matip before the weekend, Steve Nicol called on Joe Gomez to grow up quickly to be able to handle the tough challenge for the next couple of weeks.
Howbeit, the Reds team have been able to manage the injury crisis so far with the Champions League win but what happens in subsequent games is yet to be seen.
