English Premier League club Man United were able to secure the signature of Alex Telles in the summer transfer window but they would have missed out but for the effort of the left-back.

This was revealed by FC Porto president Pinto da Costa who disclosed that the left-back forced his move away from the club.

According to the FC Porto president, the club was not interested in parting ways with the left-back and wouldn’t have sold him to Man United this summer transfer window. He was a major part of the plan for the season.

He revealed that Alex Telles was very interested in the move and submitted a transfer request to the club

The FC Porto president revealed that Alex Telles’ sister, who is his agent earlier informed him of the wish of the player to leave but was not taken seriously until the left-back submitted a request about a week before the end of the summer transfer window.

Man United eventually invested on the player after missing out on Sergio Reguilon as he left Real Madrid to join North London outfit Tottenham.

Several other players were also linked to the Old Trafford in the summer transfer window but failed to make the move.
