It has now been revealed that West London outfit Chelsea made a move for Arsenal player Thomas Partey when he was with Spanish La Liga outfit Atletico Madrid but were not only turned down but reduced.

North London outfit Arsenal ended up securing the signature of the Ghanaian international by activating his £45 million release clause on the deadline day of the just concluded summer transfer window.

It looked like an easy decision for the player and his camp to make when the Gunners made the call that they were ready to activate the release clause but Chelsea did not get the same treatment.

When discussing the interest for Thomas Partey from other clubs, the midfielder’s father Jacob Partey noted that Chelsea came knocking for the player but their offer was rejected because they wanted a bigger team than the Blues.

Jacob Partey added that Italian Serie A outfit Juventus were interested and made a move but they were also not big enough the family had to wait for a big club like Arsenal to give their nod.

Howbeit, the Gunners fans are yet to see their latest signing in the Arsenal shirt and on the pitch but that is set to happen as he had to obey the clarion call from his county.
