Several Manchester United legends have been vocal about the need for a new centre back to partner Harry Maguire at the heart of the defence though Patrice Evra has a different opinion.
Evra believes that Manchester United could be better off without Maguire in the team especially after the 6-1 mauling received at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur last weekend in the league.
Despite the glaring need for a central defender, Manchester United pursued a move for Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho for the most parts of the transfer and it proved to be futile as they didn’t get the player.

Several media outlets reported that RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano was the first choice centre back target for Manchester United but the club didn’t pursue a move for him with the focus fully on Sancho.
According to The Sun, Dayot Upamecano is also attracting the interest of Premier League rivals Manchester City and Liverpool.
The Red Devils might need to see off their two rivals to sign the 21-year-old French international next summer.
Dayot Upamecano could leave RB Leipzig next summer as he has a release clause of just £36.5m.
His old contract had a £54m release clause but that has been reduced with his new deal signed this summer.
