English Premier League club Arsenal spent a whole lot of time negotiating the deal for French Ligue 1 outfit Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar but ended up not securing his signature even when the club bower agreed to pay the money.
The French Ligue 1 outfit had rejected Arsenal’s bid and insisted that Houssem Aouar was not leaving the club for anything less than his release clause which the Gunners made efforts to negotiate.

However, the North London outfit had to decide against the French midfielder for Ghanaian international Thomas Partey in the long run and pulled out a shock deal on the transfer deadline day.
It has been revealed by Arsenal insider David Ornstein that the North London outfit would have ended up with Houssem Aouar but for the fact that the club didn’t want to “be held ransom or become too fixated on one player at any expense”.
It is believed that the North London outfit were not comfortable with the way Lyon handled the deal and decided to slam it down. Howbeit, it is unknown if the Gunners will still return for the signature of the midfielder or will move in for other alternatives in the coming transfer window.
