Arsenal midfielder Matteo Guendouzi is on the verge of leaving the Premier League for the German capital, according to football correspondent Charles Watts of Goal.

It was revealed that Matteo Guendouzi will join German Bundesliga club Hertha Berlin on loan for the rest of this season and that there would be no loan fee involved.

Hertha Berlin will pay his salary throughout the duration of his loan stay with the club.

Matteo Guendouzi has seen moves to other European clubs like Villarreal, Marseille, Valencia and AS Roma collapse at the start of the transfer window.

He has been frozen out of the Arsenal team since the episode involving him and Brighton & Hove Albion striker Neal Maupay last season.

Guendouzi escaped FA punishment after grabbing the throat of his fellow Frenchman Maupay who had injured Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno earlier in the Premier League clash which ended 2-1 in favour of hosts Brighton.

The Seagulls came from behind to take all three points.

Matteo Guendouzi could be one of three Arsenal players to depart the club on transfer deadline day.

Fellow midfielder Lucas Torreira is closing in on a loan deal to Atletico Madrid, while left-back Sead Kolasinac is a strong target for Bayer Leverkusen in the German Bundesliga.
