A lot of transfer activities are expected to go down across the globe before the Monday deadline and that could include the much-anticipated departure from the North London outfit Arsenal.

Sokratis Papa is the first Arsenal player to be told by manager Mikel Arteta that he is not in the plans of the club this season but he is still at the club with about two days to the end of the transfer window because he is yet to find a deal.

The 32-year-old has been linked with a move to the Italian Serie A with Napoli reportededly interested in his signature as he has also not been featuring for the Gunners since the start of the league.

It is now being reported by Greek journalist that Merseyside outfit Everton have established contact with the Gunners for the signature of the Arsenal defender.

It is understood that Sokratis Papa is available and negotiations could go on immediately for a deal to be sealed before the Monday deadline.

The sale of Sokratis Papa could add to the funds available to the Gunners to be able to bring in a defensive midfielder as wished by manager Mikel Arteta after losing out on Lyon star Houssem Aouar.
