Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira is on the verge of joining Spanish top flight club Atletico Madrid on loan for the rest of this campaign.
Sky Sports confirmed that both Arsenal and Atletico Madrid have agreed to a loan transfer for the Uruguayan international player.
Lucas Torreira is expected in Madrid this weekend for his medicals ahead of the loan deal.
The 24-year-old is keen to leave the Gunners for Atletico Madrid to get regular first team football. Torreira was not getting much playing time under Gunners boss Mikel Arteta.

The lure of playing regularly under Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone was also too much for the player to resist.
Atletico Madrid won’t confirm his transfer to the club until they are able to sort out some outgoings with the likes of Thomas Lemar and Hector Herrera closing on moves away from the Wanda Metropolitano.
Either French international Lemar or Mexican player Herrera will need to leave for Lucas Torreira to become an Atletico Madrid player.
Arsenal are said to be lining up Thomas Partey of Atletico Madrid as the man to replace Lucas Torreira after his loan deal to Spain has been confirmed.
The Gunners will need to activate the £45m release clause to sign Partey.
