French Ligue 1 giants Lyon have signed a new player following the official confirmation earlier this week.

Lyon disclosed that midfielder Lucas Paqueta has signed for the club with reports claiming that the French club will pay Italian Serie A giants AC Milan £18m for the transfer of the Brazilian player.

The new Lyon player is seen as the potential replacement for club skipper Houssem Aouar who could leave the club before the transfer market shuts.

Houssem Aouar is a strong target for Premier League side Arsenal.

The Gunners have had bids turned down for the playmaker as manager Mikel Arteta bids to improve his team on the creative side.

Only Premier League newcomers West Bromwich Albion have created lesser chances than Arsenal in the English top flight this season.

Houssem Aouar shone for Lyon in the Champions League last term and he has seen the focus on him soar as a result of those performances in Europe’s premier club competition.

The Gunners are trying to complete deals for him and his Atletico Madrid counterpart Thomas Partey before the window shuts.

Lucas Paqueta is expected to plug the gaps in the Lyon midfield with midfielders Houssem Aouar and Jeff Reine Adelaide likely to leave the club in this window.

Hertha Berlin have had a €27m bid accepted for Jeff Reine Adelaide according to latest reports.
