English Premier League outfit Arsenal could have an agreement with Spanish La Liga outfit Atletico Madrid over the sale of Lucas Torreira before the end of the summer transfer window.

With about one week left to the shutting of the summer window, the North London club are hoping to earn from the sale of the former Sampdoria midfielder so as to use the funds to seal a new deal for one of their targets.

The Gunners have been in negotiation with the La Liga outfit for the past weeks as a swap deal involving Thomas Partey and Lucas Torreira was rejected by Atletico Madrid.

Now it is reported by respected transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano that Lucas Torreira’s agent flew to Spain on Tuesday to hold negotiation for a deal. He added that talks are still continuing between Arsenal and Atletico Madrid with the hope that an agreement is reached.

Fabrizio Romano added that Arsenal are requesting a permanent deal which means Atletico Madrid will have to submit a new deal as they earlier requested for a loan deal with a buy clause.

However, both parties are confident that a deal will happen before the end of the summer transfer window as Lucas Torreira is top on the list of targets for manager Diego Simeone.
