Reigning FA Cup champions Arsenal have tabled a bid for Lyon skipper Houssem Aouar as they bid to sign the Frenchman before the transfer window ends in a few days’ time.

According to Football London, the Gunners have made a bid of £36.5m plus £10m in add-ons with the belief that it will be enough to prise Aouar away from Lyon.

The North Londoners had earlier made a bid of £32m for the 22-year-old but it was rejected by Lyon with the French club holding out for more.

Aouar is the main target for Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta for the rest of this summer’s transfer window as he looks to improve the creativity in his team.

Arsenal struggled on the creative front during their last league game at home to West Ham United.

Young striker Eddie Nketiah scored the winning goal of the game off the bench to give the Gunners a 2-1 win over the Hammers.

The win ensured that Arteta and Arsenal maintained their perfect start to the season but that will be tested when they face Premier League champions, Liverpool, away from home.

Both Arsenal and Liverpool have a 100% winning record.

Apart from those two teams, Everton and Leicester City also have a perfect record in this season’s Premier League campaign till date.
