Italian Serie A club Torino were thought to be the favourites to sign Lucas Torreira but that would longer be possible due to his high transfer fee.

Davide Vagnati said that Lucas Torreira is a top player but it is difficult for Torino or any other club to sign him because of the financial demands from the Gunners.

Arsenal want to sell the Uruguayan international permanently for £24m but interested clubs like Torino are looking at a loan deal.

Apart from Torino, Fiorentina and Atletico Madrid have also expressed their interest in Lucas Torreira.

Arsenal want to sell Lucas Torreira as they bid to raise funds to sign new players.

Midfielders Thomas Partey and Houssem Aouar are the targets for the Gunners but they need to raise money to sign them.

Lucas Torreira previously played for Italian sides Pescara and Sampdoria before Arsenal signed him from the former.

The Gunners paid £26m for the player two years ago and he made a bright start to his career. He has not been a regular since Mikel Arteta became the Arsenal manager.
