A former Man United player Dimitar Berbatov has urged manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to sign a defender that will partner with Harry Maguire at the defence this season.

This became a concern for Man United and the fans after their first Premier League game that ended in a 3-1 defeat to Crystal Palace. It was observed that more is expected from the club’s defence line-up to be able to avoid such results.

Dimitar Berbatov noted that Man United suffered a defeat against Crystal Palace because the goals they conceded were as a result of defensive errors, adding that the situation must be immediately resolved before another defeat comes their way again.

The former player stated that the Red Devils must strengthen their defence if they must avoid another barren season, noting that Harry Maguire needs a stronger partner to succeed on the job.

This fact has been admitted by manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who claimed that the priority has changed for the club in the summer transfer window and that is expected to happen within the next two weeks.

What is unknown is who the Red Devils will be bringing to the Old Trafford as they have not been strongly linked with a centre-back in the last few days.
