Manchester United forward Jesse Lingard has been linked with a surprise transfer to Premier League rivals Tottenham in recent days and renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano has given an update on his situation.

The Italian journalist revealed via his official Twitter account that Jesse Lingard could possibly join Jose Mourinho at Tottenham Hotspur on one condition.

He said Spurs’ move for Lingard is dependent on whether fellow England international Dele Alli leaves the North London outfit.

Jesse Lingard had earlier been linked with a £30m transfer to North London as he is a player interesting Spurs’ boss Jose Mourinho.

Mourinho and Lingard worked together at Old Trafford when the former was the Manchester United manager. The Portuguese tactician is ready to sell Dele Alli and he wants Jesse Lingard to replace him in the Spurs squad.

Dele Alli started well when Jose Mourinho was named Tottenham Hotspur at the end of last year but his form has dropped off in recent weeks.

He has been left out of the last two Premier League matchday squads by Jose Mourinho and was rejected by Real Madrid as part of discussions that saw Spurs sign both Sergio Reguilon and Gareth Bale last week.

French champions Paris Saint Germain (PSG) and Italian Serie A giants Inter Milan have been linked with Dele Alli.
