Arsenal skipper Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has ended speculation over his long-term future at the club after his contract extension was confirmed on Tuesday evening.

The club announced that he has penned a three-year contract that will take him to the end of the 2022/23 season.

According to TalkSports, the Arsenal skipper will earn a whopping £20m per year for his new contract. This means that Aubameyang will be paid a total salary of £60m over the course of the new three-year contract.

Gabonese international Aubameyang had less than one year to run on his Arsenal deal before the announcement of the new contract which makes him the highest paid player at the club potentially.

Journalist David Ornstein of The Atheltic said that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will earn a basic salary of £250,000 weekly but add-ons could take him past the £350,000 currently earned by Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil.

It was also disclosed that Aubameyang had offers from Barcelona and Inter Milan but he opted to stay at Arsenal to establish his legendary status at the club.

Aubameyang has been instrumental to the recent successes recorded by his club.

He scored a brace as Arsenal came from behind to beat Chelsea 2-1 in the FA Cup final last season.

Aubameyang had scored all the goals as the Gunners beat defending champions Manchester City in the semi-finals of the competition.
