The left-back position proved to be a problematic position for Chelsea manager Frank Lampard last season as he had to shift club skipper Cesar Azpilicueta from right-back to left-back on many occasions despite the presence of specialist left-backs Emerson Palmieri and Marcos Alonso in the team.
Frank Lampard has moved to solve the aforementioned problem by signing England international left-back Ben Chilwell from fellow English team Leicester City. This move has pushed one of Marcos Alonso or Emerson Palmieri closer to the Chelsea exit door this summer with Inter Milan linked with the two players.

According to Sky Germany reporter Angelo Mangiante, Inter Milan manager Antonio Conte is only interested in signing Spaniard Marcos Alonso from Chelsea.
The signing of Marcos Alonso from Chelsea could be problematic for Inter Milan as the Spanish defender is clearly rated by Blues boss Frank Lampard than his counterpart Emerson Palmieri.
Marcos Alonso was regularly featured by Lampard last season than Brazilian defender Emerson Palmieri.
Frank Lampard and Chelsea are expected to be without Ben Chilwell for their Premier League opener at Brighton and Hove Albion on Monday night as he’s recovering from injury meaning that Marcos Alonso could get the nod once again ahead of Emerson Palmieri for the left-back spot.
