Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi will spend the 2020/21 season at fellow Premier League team Crystal Palace after his loan spell was confirmed on Thursday.

The 26-year-old has returned to Selhurst Park after a successful loan spell during the second half of the penultimate Premier League campaign. He scored six goals in 13 appearances for the Eagles.

The Belgian international signed a new contract at Stamford Bridge before signing another loan deal with Crystal Palace.

Batshuayi had to leave the club after the signing of German international striker Timo Werner from RB Leipzig this summer. Chelsea paid £53m to secure the signing of the petite forward.

Timo Werner is expected to be the first choice striker at Chelsea this season ahead of French World Cup winner Olivier Giroud and Three Lions of England star Tammy Abraham.

Ex-Arsenal player Giroud wants to leave Chelsea this summer as well just like Michy Batshuayi. Giroud has agreed on personal terms with Italian Serie A giants Juventus.

First choice Chelsea striker Timo Werner is one of seven players signed by the club this summer. The other signings include Kai Havertz, free agent duo Thiago Silva and Malang Sarr.

Others are Ben Chilwell, Xavier Mbuyemba and Moroccan international Hakim Ziyech.
