Former Premier League champions Chelsea are said to be in talks to sign a new goalkeeper as the club continues his spendings in the transfer market this summer.

The Blues have spent over £200m on new talents this summer as they target the league title in the new season. Chelsea were top four contenders last season and their fans would be hoping that the new players will be able to challenge for the Premier League title in the upcoming season.

Journalist Keke Palmer talked about the new signing on the horizon with the Blues in advanced talks to sign Rennes shot stopper Edouard Mendy.

Chelsea has made him their top priority after completing the signing of German attacker Kai Havertz. The 21-year-old joins the Blues from German team Bayer Leverkusen.

It was also revealed that Chelsea have options in their pursuit of a goalkeeper if the Edouard Mendy deal doesn’t work. Manager Frank Lampard is keen to find a replacement for his inconsistent first choice shot stopper, Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Havertz was the seventh signing at Chelsea this summer and Mendy could be signing number eight.

Thiago Silva, Xavier Mbuyemba, Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner, Malang Sarr and Ben Chilwell are the other signings at Chelsea.
