No surprise, Chelsea fans are already in a light mood ahead of next season after seeing their team complete two major signings.

Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech have both been confirmed to fly the Blues colours ahead of the coming season and the club is already preparing to confirm a deal for Kai Havertz which is no doubt a major boost for the Frank Lampard team.

There are, therefore, suggestions that all the good signings for the attacking roles might just end up in a mess if there is no major reinforcement of the defensive roles.

The Blues need depth in the defence if they must succeed in their bid to win titles in the coming season.

Leicester City defender Ben Chilwell and West Ham United star Declan Rice have both been linked as options for buys by Chelsea but a deal is yet to happen.

Commentators claim that Chelsea must get the West Ham United player even if they are unsuccessful in their bid for the Leicester City man.

Declan Rice has been heavily linked and no doubt he seeks a move to Chelsea. He has been tipped to be the new John Terry at the Stamford Bridge.

West Ham are asking for a £80 million fee which is argued to be too high but Declan Rice’ signature has been tipped to make the attacking recruits more effective.
