Arsenal in a swift change of mind over goalkeeper’s future

Before now, it was understood that the English Premier League club, Arsenal are desperate to keep goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez at the Emirates Stadium to compete with the first choice, Bernd Leno but that has changed, according to The Athletic.

Emiliano Martinez proved he has come of age when he stood in for Bernd Leno during his injury and helped to deliver a world-class performance as well as helping to win the FA Cup title.

There is no doubt that the Argentina international shot-stopper seeks a first-team role at the Emirates Stadium but it has been confirmed that he will not be given that opportunity under manager Miel Arteta.

The Athletic reports that Bernd Leno is fit again and still has the backing of the former Man City assistant manager for the first-team role which will mean an exit for Emiliano Martinez.

It is understood that the Gunners are keen on cashing in to be able to sanction more transfer deals. The value of Emiliano Martinez has since risen after his impressive performance during the restart of the Premier League and it will be an opportunity for the Gunners.

It is reported that the North London club seek £20 million for the signature of Emiliano Martinez who is also keen on playing regularly.
