The dream of Arsenal fans to see Thomas Partey at the club in the coming season might not materialize into a reality as it is reported that the Gunners might withdraw their interest.

It is understood that Mikel Arteta is a big fan of the Ghanaian international midfielder and has told the club to get him ahead of the season but there has been difficulty in agreeing on a fee for the player with Spanish La Liga outfit, Atletico Madrid.

The North London club had earlier submitted a bid of £22 million-plus Matteo Guendouzi but it was rejected by the La Liga club as they insisted on a fee of £45 million which Arsenal are unwilling to meet.

Arsenal are now willing to dump their interest as they are not convinced that Atletico Madrid are willing to negotiate his release clause. The Gunners will now move for other alternatives before the end of this summer window.

Arsenal’s only chance of signing Thomas Partey is if they are willing to part ways with French striker Alexandre Lacazette this summer window as Atletico Madrid are very keen on him.

Atletico Madrid are now willing to hold talks of a swap deal plus cash to be able to secure the signature of Alexandre Lacazette. They are willing to offer Thomas Partey or Angel Correa plus cash for the deal.
