The two Manchester clubs, City and United have been linked with a move for football legend, Lionel Messi as he is reportedly set to end his spell with Spanish La Liga outfit, Barcelona.

Barcelona was thrown into crisis following their embarrassing defeat in the Champions League that led to their exit. They also failed to win the La Liga title, leaving the club in disarray.

No doubt, Lionel Messi is unhappy with the happenings at the club and has officially told the club through a legal document that he wants to leave, insisting that his release clause should be accepted by any of his suitors.

While French Ligue 1 outfit, Paris Saint Germain are reported to have made a move already and are willing to activate the release clause of the Argentina international, the two English Premier League clubs, Man United and Man City are reportedly ready to meet the player’s £500,000 weekly wage.

However, Barcelona are making efforts to keep the 33-year-old and have reportedly sent him a reply, telling him that they want him to stay and finish his career with the Catalans.

Meanwhile, the club hierarchy have reportedly held an emergency meeting on this issue and President Maria Bartomeu could resign to save Messi’s career with the club.
