It is another big blow to North London outfit, Arsenal as they lost a major target to French Ligue 1 outfit Lille in this summer transfer window.

The Gunners are reported to be interested in highly-rated Gent striker, Jonathan David as well as Man United with the hope that a deal would be wrapped up this summer window but no doubt they came very late on him.

The report claims that Mikel Arteta had wished Jonathan David serve as a cover to Gabon international forward, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang who is now over 30 years but that is not happening.

Jonathan David has now gone to replace the Nigerian international starker Victor Osimhen at the Ligue 1 outfit after he sealed a £45 million move to Italian Serie A outfit Napoli last week.

The 20-year-old agreed on a five-year contract with Lille at the Stade Pierre Mauroy.

However, a deal for Jonathan David would have helped Arsenal to settle with the reported exit of French striker Alexandre Lacazette as his name has continued to be mentioned as part of those that would be shown the way out at the Emirates Stadium this summer window.

It is, therefore, expected that the North London club will do some deals this summer window to get the team back to its best under manager Mikel Arteta.
