Who Chelsea fans should hold responsible for defeat

Chelsea suffered a 3-0 defeat to Sheffield United at Bramall Lane on Saturday and that has got everyone talking.

The chance of getting into the top four positions is now slim because they could be reduced to the fifth position if Leicester City and Manchester United beat Bournemouth and Aston Villa respectively.

In his analysis, former Arsenal player Ian Wright noted that Blues’ defender Andreas Christensen was bullied by Sheffield United attackers and could not hold on.

More so, he claims that manager Frank Lampard should be held responsible for the defeat because he was naive, especially for trying to play in a shape like Man United.

According to the Gunners legend, Chelsea players were unable to have their stance on the pitch as their midfielders and defenders were overpowered.

While admitting that Frank Lampard will be disappointed, Wright stated that they lacked intensity and pace to keep down the pressure from their opponents.

It is now obvious that fans will have to wait until the end of the season to know who joins Liverpool and Man City for the Champions League ticket.

The contest is between Man United, Chelsea and Leicester City with the Red Devils looking real for the challenge.

Chelsea VS Burnley predictions

Chelsea return from their 4-0 victory over FC Krasnodar in the Champions League to face Burnley for a Premier League challenge on Saturday as favourites as they have extended their unbeaten run to three games.

After goalless draws against Sevilla and Man United in the Champions League and Premier League respectively, the Blues have now returned to winning ways with the sweet victory on Wednesday night.

The West London outfit will be travelling to Turf Moor against the Burnley team that is yet to win a single game this season after six matched in the Premier League.

There is very little to talk about the host team on Saturday because their past results have revealed that they are not in the best of form but we will not be surprised if they turn things around against the Blues team.

However, the Blues team seems to have started scoring again with Hakim Ziyech getting his full debut and marking it with a goal, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Timo Werner, and Christian Pulisic were also all on the score sheet. Frank Lampard hopes on nothing less than more goals from his team at the weekend. They have recorded just one win in their last Premier League game.

Frank Lampard will still count on his summer transfer signing, Edouard Mendy to stand in between the sticks as he has been instrumental to the team’s resurgence this season. We also expect N’Golo Kante and Jorginho to give the depth in the middle.

Thiago Silva, who missed the Champions League game, has been confirmed to be available for the Burnley clash while the attacking quartet of Hakim Ziyech, Kai Havertz, Christian Pulisic, and Timo Werner might be unleashed on the Saturday opponent.

See predicted Chelsea lineup:
Edouard Mendy, James, Kurt Zouma, Thiago Silva, Ben Chilwell, N’Golo Kante, Jorginho, Hakim Ziyech, Kai Havertz, Christian Pulisic, Timo Werner.

Three possible N’Golo Kante replacements at Chelsea

Every Chelsea fan wants to see N’Golo Kante in the Blues shirt because of the impact he has made on the team but that might not continue for a longer period.

The former Leicester City midfielder is already being linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge as he cannot boast of the same performance when he first joined the club.

European giants like Real Madrid, Inter Milan, Paris Saint Germain are desperate to land the service of the World Cup winner and could be their opportunity should Frank Lampard decide to let him leave.

N’Golo Kante can no longer boast of a future at the club after learning that the club is keen on the signature of West Ham United midfielder, Declan Rice. That could cost him his playing time.

However, three names have been listed as a possible replacement for the France international.

Wilfried Ndidi
The Nigerian international has been solid for Leicester City for the past seasons. He has been attracting interest from Stamford Bridge with his stunning record of tackles and defensive powees at the midfield. Should The West London outfit decide against N’Golo Kante, the Nigerian international could be called upon but the Blues must be ready to pay big as he is also being linked to Paris Saint Germain.

Denis Zakaria
Frank Lampard is known to have great belief in younger talents and that is what makes Denis Zakaria a perfect replacement for N’Golo Kante. The Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder will be able to manage Chelsea’s midfield properly as he can move forward with the ball. He will be less expensive and will jump at any opportunity to join a big side like Chelsea.

Declan Rice
The West Ham United midfielder is one of the reason why N’Golo Kante is being rumoured to leave the club as he is top target for Frank Lampard. He has been in the EPL and well experienced.

EPL: Klopp has major challenges aside from injuries

There is more to the challenges facing Liverpool and manager Jurgen Klopp with the latest complaints made by the German boss over the fixture schedule.

The Premier League title holders are currently battling with injuries as some of the important players in the squad are on the sideline which places the club’s bid to defend the title on the line.

Dutch defender Virgil Van Dijk has been ruled out of the season after sustaining an injury in the Merseyside derby against Everton while Fabinho will be out of action for few weeks. Jurgen Klopp currently lacks options at the defence for the next few fixtures.

However, the former Borussia Dortmund boss expresses dissatisfaction over the tiresome fixtures list handed to top Premier League clubs that are currently participating in the Champions League. They include Liverpool, Man City, Man United, and Chelsea.

In one of his post-game interviews, Jurgen Klopp blasted the Premier League board for not being considerate in their scheduling of matches for his team and others playing in the Champions League.
“I think everybody will agree that if you play Tuesday night, you can play the Saturday 12:30 pm game, but somehow the Premier League never realised that.

“They always put in the Wednesday night game, like last Saturday, Man City had to play this, game – I can’t believe it. We are obviously not friends, we play against each other and fight against each other, but how is that possible?”

He lamented that the Premier League bosses are not bothered about how teams cope with these fixtures, expressing fears that it will affect the efficiency of the team and may cause fatigue for the players.

Liverpool will play West Ham United in the Premier League on Saturday after the Champions League clash against their Danish opponent on Tuesday and will make a trip to Italy to face Atlanta in Group D, just four days later.
