Manchester United will have to fend off the threat of former manager Jose Mourinho in their quest to sign RB Leipzig star Emil Forsberg.

Swedish international Emil Forsberg is attracting the interest of three clubs in the top flight of English football according to the latest reports from the stables of The Sun.

It was revealed that Jose Mourinho and his Tottenham Hotspur team are interested in signing the 28-year-old RB Leipzig attacker this summer.

Mourinho was able to examine Emil Forsberg in close quarters during the Champions League clash with RB Leipzig last month. The player was a second half substitute during the first leg of the last 16 tie between Tottenham Hotspur and RB Leipzig.

Emil Forsberg came on for Konrad Laimer in the 83rd minute as he helped RB Leipzig to close out a 1-0 away win over North Londoners Tottenham Hotspur. RB Leipzig forward Timo Werner scored the only goal of the game from the penalty spot in the 58th minute after the aforementioned Laimer was fouled in the box.

Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United and Everton are all interested in signing the Swedish player. Ironically, all the three clubs are in the mix for Champions League football next season via the Premier League.

Emil Forsberg has been a big part of the RB Leipzig team battling the likes of Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich for the German Bundesliga title this season. RB Leipzig led the league for many weeks before they were displaced by Bayern Munich last month.

He has scored eight goals in 49 caps for the Swedish national team and was part of the squad that got to the quarterfinals of the 2018 FIFA World Cup tournament in Russia before they were eliminated by the Three Lions of England.

Forsberg has nine goals plus three assists in 24 games for RB Leipzig this season.
